Although we specialise in termite management (termite inspections and termite treatments), we also provide pest control treatments for our customers. Often this means a general pest control treatments once a year, but sometimes it may require one of our specialist pest control treatments.

    What our customers think…

    Specialist Pest Control Treatments

At Termites VIC – Termite & Pest Control, termite control is our speciality. Termites, also known as white ants, are a major economic pest and can cause significant damage to homes. We offer a full range of termite services (termite inspections and termite treatments), including Termidor termite treatments that are backed by an 8 year warranty.

In addition to our general pest treatment, we offer a range of specialist pest treatments for specific pest problems:

    Spider Control

Many of our customers in Melbourne book a “spider spray” as their main pest issues are web-building spiders such as redbacks and black house spiders. Our general pest treatment also cover web-building spiders.

We provide a 6-month warranty on our spider treatments and general pest treatments covering web-building spiders.

Sometimes our customers have a specific problem with white-tail spiders or huntsman spiders (hunting / ground spiders). We carry out an inspection to find out where the infestation is coming from and carrying out an appropriate treatment to eliminated the current problem. However, since these types of spiders walk on the tips of their legs, it means they can walk across any treated surface thus picking up only a small amount of insecticide. This means they can enter an house (although they may die later). For this reason we cannot offer long term warranties for this type of spiders.

BUT, a spider spray or general pest treatment will eliminate insects and web-building spiders, which are the main food sources for huntsman and white-tail spiders. As such, after one of these treatments your house won’t be particularly attractive place for hunting spiders, so they will move elsewhere looking for food.

Large cockroach species, such as American cockroaches and Australian cockroaches, are covered in our general pest control treatment. However, German cockroaches (the small ones!) require a specialist cockroach treatment.

German cockroaches only live inside and due to their small size they can build their nests in all manner of small cracks and crevices. Before we carry out a treatment, we do a thorough inspection to identify all their hiding places. We will then use a combination of sprays, dusts and baits to gain control.

After a treatment it can take 1-2 weeks to get complete control and for heavy infestation we may require to include an additional visit. Although we guarantee complete elimination, we cannot provide a long term warranty as new infestations can be re-introduced at any time (especially in cardboard boxes) and we cannot control this.

At Termites VIC we typically use a combination of specialist ant sprays and ant baits to eliminate ant problems. We design our treatment and choose our products depending on the species of ant present and location of the problem. Learn more about our ant control treatments…

There are two main types of wasps in Melbourne and Victoria: the European wasp and the Australian paper wasp. The European wasp is a dangerous and aggressive wasp and can build nests of up to 100,000 individuals! Around 80% of their nests are underground with the rest being in buildings and trees. Australian paper wasps are less aggressive and make smaller nests, but still deliver a nasty sting. They tend to build their nests on buildings and trees, but still need to be dealt with.

Dealing with wasp needs needs the correct safety equipment and professional products, especially in dealing with underground European wasp nests. If the nest cannot be located or is on a neighbouring property, we can use wasp baits to eliminate the nest.

At Termites VIC, we have the necessary protective equipment and extensive knowledge of wasp behaviour to ensure nest elimination. If we can access the nest we will also remove the wasp nest afterwards. Learn more about our wasp control treatments…

Honey bees can sometimes build their nests in roof spaces and wall voids. They can also become a problem if a swarm arrives on your property. Although we try not to kill honeybees and will often call a apiarist to see if they will come and collect the hive, sometimes the only option is to kill the nest.

We wear the necessary safety equipment and use the appropriate products to safely eliminate the nest. After the nest has been killed it is important to remove the nest as all the honey will attract further pests. If the nest is in the wall cavity it will require cutting open the wall, removing the nest, cleaning up any mess and then employing a builder to repair the wall.

If you have a flea infestation at your property it is important to have a professional treatment inside and outside the building. Termites VIC have the expertise to know where the flea population establish and ensure we carry out a comprehensive and pet friendly treatment, to elimination the infestation and protect your family and pets.

The roof rat, sewer rat and house mouse are the three main species of pest rodent in Melbourne. They each have their own unique behaviours, which is why just throwing some rodent bait from Bunnings into the roof void rarely works. At Termites VIC we have the in depth knowledge of rodent behaviour to design the necessary treatment program to ensure successful rodent control.

When we carry out a rodent treatment, we alway start with an inspection to understand which rodents are causing the problem, where there are nesting and how they are getting into the building. This then determines the best treatment program. We carry out a risk assessment before designing a rodent treatment and take into account safety considerations (pets, children, etc). We always use lockable bait stations with rodent bait

For most domestic rodent problems, we can eliminate the issue with a single visit. We offer a 3-month warranty with residential treatments (as long as any rodent proofing recommendations are followed). If it is a major infestation, additional visits may be required to ensure elimination.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Are our pest control treatments safe?

We talk to you to make sure we are aware of any concerns and carry out risk assessments before every treatment to ensure we can apply a safe pest control treatment. We only use products and apply them according to the label instruction to ensure the treatment is safe for your family and pets, with minimal impact on the environment.

Pest control treatments vary in price depending on the type of treatment and the size of the property – a large 5 bedroom house will be more expensive to treat than a small 1 bedroom unit. If we need to deal with a heavy pest infestation which requires more than one visit, there may be an additional charge.

For most of our treatments, only a single visit is necessary. However, if you are suffering a major infestation, repeat visits may be required to gain complete control.

If we are carrying out a spray treatment at your house, people and pets need to be kept clear of the treatment area whilst we are spraying and kept out of the treatment area until the treatment has dried. For most people, leaving the house is the easiest way to achieve this. For other treatments it’s generally not necessary to leave your home, although we will confirm this at the time of booking.

For us to carry out a thorough inspection and treatment, it is necessary to have access to all rooms, roof void and sub-floor and especially the external perimeter of the buildings. Moving any belongings and especially children’s toys and pet items from these areas will allow us to carry out a complete and safe treatment.

After we leave, it is important to stay out of any spray treatment area until the treatment has dried.

There may be an increase in pest activity after treatment and insect numbers may take a day or two to diminish, as hiding insects come into contact with the treatment.

To maximise the duration of protection from any treatment, it is important to avoid washing any treated surfaces, as this will wash the insecticide away.

There are a range of general pest prevention tips:

      • Put rubbish in garbage bags, seal tightly and place in bins with well-fitted lids
    • Prevent pests entering the building from outside
      • Ensure well-fitting insect screens are all windows and doors
      • Fill any holes and cracks in walls and around doors / windows

      • Consider using insect grills in weep holes
      • Trim back vegetation and any branches that overhang the roof
    • Eliminate potential pest hiding places
      • Clear back vegetation in garden beds around the perimeter of the building
      • Make sure roof void, sub-floor and the perimeter of the building are clear of stored goods / boxes
